The Water Trail Project
In 2010. I created a temporary water trail along the Potomac and Anacostia rivers. I am now looking for opportunities to make this project permanent.
The ancient sea creatures I create from salvaged building glass mark the trail. Visitors can follow a map, or use GPS coordinates, to find the creatures feeding, breeding, and basking along the river. They can also learn about the ecology of the river and the effect humans are having on local waterways. I want to make finding the creatures fun, as well as educational.
Getting more people out on the water is one of my goals. I know from my own experience how significant time on the water can be, but most people don’t realize how accessible it is. We’ve got an amazing variety of water in this area. I hope with this water trail, people will pay more attention to our local lakes and rivers.
